Frequently Asked Questions

  • In general, why do you use the parts you use?

All our brands of parts are carefully selected to meet and exceed our price-to-performance and stability expectations so that we can offer you a longer warranty period than the big companies offer with their pre-builds. We don't use a single part that we wouldn't use in our personal builds!

  • Why AMD and not Intel processors?

We follow tech news so you don't have to! Intel's latest 13th and 14th generation CPUs have continuously had huge stability problems over the last year. For now, we can't in good faith use these processors in our builds because we can't guarantee they'll work and continue working for you. Aside from that, AMD's AM5 CPU socket design is set to be supported until at least 2027 leaving you with amazing processor upgrade options in the future!

  • Why mostly Nvidia and not AMD graphics cards?

KTB PCs believes in getting you the best for your money and providing you with a blazing-fast ESports (especially Fortnite!) and smooth, cinematic AAA experience. We think that the DLSS, ray-tracing, and other Nvidia software features make the slight premium over AMD cards absolutely worth it. However, if raw FPS-per-dollar is what you're after, we also offer a few builds with AMD cards.

  • Why do some of your prices seem a little high?

We really like building SFF (small form factor) PCs which, due to space constraints, use miniaturized and hence more expensive parts. If you're looking for more budget friendly options, our mid-size towers would be a better fit for you. Alternatively, reach out and we can come up with a build to meet your budget needs!

  • Why do you use air coolers and not AIO/liquid coolers?

Again, it comes down to giving you the best value for your money. In our mid-size towers, we love the Thermalright Peerless Assassin and Phantom Spirit as both can cool any modern CPU at about one fifth of the price of an AIO (All-in-one) liquid cooler; at the same time, air coolers have fewer moving parts so they ship easier and have much better long-term reliability. In our SFF builds, we really enjoy the Thermalright AXP90-X53mm as it can easily cool midrange and some high-end processors while maintaining a very low profile. If you can't tell, we're big fans of Thermalright!

  • What comes pre-installed with your PCs?

We install some basic apps to make sure you're able to hit the ground running. That includes:
    - Epic Launcher and Fortnite
    - Battle.Net Launcher
    - Steam
    - Chrome and Firefox
    - Discord
    - MSI Afterburner
    - Various useful free apps like VLC, 7Zip, and Notepad++
